Dmitry Peskov, Putin’s spokesman, was speaking to CNN’s Fareed Zakaria when he revealed the surprising relationship between the Russian ambassador and Clinton Camp.
“Well, if you look at some people connected with Hillary Clinton during her campaign, you would probably see that he had lots of meetings of that kind,” he said. “There are lots of specialists in politology, people working in think tanks advising Hillary or advising people working for Hillary.”
He went on to defend the Russian President from meddling in the US 2016 election.
“But there were no meetings about elections — electoral process … So if you look at it with intention to demonize Russia, you would probably say that, yes, he was trying to interfere in Hillary’s activities,” said Peskov. “But it would be nonsense, because this is not true.”
Democrats and Clinton allies have been savagely attacking the new administration since day one over its alleged ties to Moscow. Peskov’s comments about the ambassador’s meetings with Clinton advisors further debunks the claims of collusion between Trump officials and Putin, but the witch-hunt will surely continue.
